All Star Game

The 2009 All Star game is a win for the Liberty division. As the game was not broadcast over the internet I got my inning by inning plays from the AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com blog. I appreciate their efforts in reporting the game so I am able to pass along to you how well our boys did.

Mike Just was hitting lead off. He was 2 for 5 on the day with 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs and a stolen base. He drove in the game tying RBI and scored the game winning run. He was named All Star Game MVP, most impressive for someone who wasn't even on the fan ballot.

Travis Garcia was 1 for 4 on the day with a walk. He played the entire game at short stop.

James Shanks was 0 for 3 with a walk. He was the designated hitter for the entire game.

Jeremy Owens was 0 for 1 with a walk. Sometime between his at bat in the 4th and the top of the 7th he was pulled out of the game for Wayne Lydon.

Both of our pitcher pitched in one inning of relief, Ryan Bicondoa pitched in the 3rd and Matt Hensley pitched in the 7th.

Ryan faced 5 batters. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one batter. He allowed no runs.

Matt faced 3 batters. He allowed one single and then got help from his everyday defense in Travis Garcia and Mike Just as the next batter hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Matt then got the last out of the inning on a swinging strike out.

Once again congratulations is in order for all the Blue Crabs All Stars. The entire team looks to come home Thursday for a 4 game stand against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
