It is my displeasure to announce that I will no longer be providing game recaps on this blog. As a working college student the demands of trying to recap every game while taking an online class and working has proven too much. I will continue to bring news about the team as often as I can.
That being said we recently have seen some of our players miss time. DH Matt Craig recently missed time after throwing out his back but is now back in the lineup hitting strong. 1B Eric Crozier also missed time with a sore back. SS Travis Garcia has missed several games this season with a mild case of elbow tendinitis.
The injuries to our team have been minor this year and we are thankful for that. Since the signing of John Halama we have made no transactions.
We are currently on a 3 game win streak against the Newark Bears. The blue crabs will play Newark again tonight before heading home for 6 games in 7 days. They will then go back on the road for 9 games in 9 days.
The next road trip may help to prevent some of the back problems the team has had given their long bus rides. They will go to York then Bridgeport then Long Island before returning home. By sandwiching a trip to Bridgeport between two other road games it will shorten the trip to Bridgeport and perhaps be a more comfortable ride for the players.
This recent string of injuries as well as our less then timely hitting I believe is in part due to the strange weather early in the season but also by having the spring training in Maryland. Maryland is not known for it's warm Aprils, whereas the normal location of Florida is always known for being warm. By starting the pre-season in a cold climate it was harder for the players to get their bodies properly "warmed up". Also the early season trip to Bridgeport where it is even colder then it was here affected the players.
When we schedule the spring training next year we may want to reconsider having it in Maryland due to the unpredictable weather.
Again I will no longer be providing game recaps but I will do my best to keep everyone updated on everything else going on with the team.
