Pitching Switches

In recent transactions the Blue Crabs have let a few picthers go while aquiring a few new faces.

Right handed relievers Jason Blanton and Jason LaVorgna have both departed. Blanton went home, deciding to shut it down for the remainder of the season in order to continue his arm rehab. LaVorgna was traded to a frontier league team in Kalamazzo, MI. Though LaVorgna is hoping to rejoin the team in about a month when the frontier league season ends. Both Derrick Ellison and Mike O'Conner have departed towards major league organizations. Ellison to the Mets organization and O'Conner to the AAA team of the Royals.

With openings in the pitching line up the Blue Crabs have added a starter and two relievers. The starter is lefty Randy Keisler who previously played with the Yankees before recieving arm surgery. The relievers are Matt Righter, a side-armer righty; and another righty in Dane De La Rosa.

In a simaliar move following the departure of closer Derrick Ellison, fellow lefty Matt Schwietzer has become our unoffical closer getting two saves in his last two attempts.

  1. When did Jason LaVorgna leave? I hadn't heard anything about that.

  2. I saw him at coldstone in waldorf last night. He came back with Blanton yesterday afternoon. Should be headed out to the "hand" shortly.
